  • I used to be HOTT, but now I am too COOL !!!


    Oh and the girl in the next cubicle was just speaking to someone, and in that 10 minutes of conversation I heard a good angrezi accent, and a dilli type accent and a south accent together though at different times !!!

    Kind of funny 😀

    And Fiat has introduced Linea and I am in love already with how she looks, though like Deepu also wrote to me in his email, is a bit underpowered… However I feel that FIAT even though looks underpowered from a CC point of view, has enough under the boot and in their brains to decide the torques that a car should have… Radha has might not reach a 60kmph as fast as a Suzuki or Hyundai would, but take her past the 2500rpm mark on the Tacho and it can give any of the much stronger cars a good run for their money.. and this is a personal experience after so many drives between Delhi and Chandigarh !!! It has a punch that is hard to ignore… mmmmmuah Radha !!!

    Back to Linea, I like the way they have labeled the versions of the car : Active; Dynamic; and Emotion… makes it closer to your heart !!! That happens with FIAT anyway, this is just that small change that makes it look better instead of a calculative SXi or VXi.

    Another interesting thing that I see is the Arm Rest in the front row, I have realized this in the US that it does make a lot of difference in comfort when you are driving… That should also explain why a lot of people like to keep one hand on the gear knob when they are driving!

    One thing that I am missing is the ABS and Disc Brakes on the rear… But I also think that there are not too many takers in India yet. Also the OEM versions of these seem to be much expensive than what you can get it done for in open market.

  • Congress gets power, I get an IP Softphone

    Congress is getting back to power in Delhi… while some people would not like it, I am not surprised by this situation and am rather happy to see Sheila Dikshit continue ! This time around some 60% of the janta voted and I feel most would be glad to see the result !

    In the last 4-5 years, I have seen a lot of things changing in Delhi and more for good than bad and I am hopeful that they were continue. The way Delhi has worked on its infrastructure is commendable and while that should continue, I am sure the other things which need attention would get their due in the next few years !

    So way to go team !

    And I got a IP softphone today…


    now I am ready for a true home office and would be available on my office extension irrespective of where I am sitting in the world ! how cewl is that ! The world of Outlook Web Access, VPNs, Xtra-nets, and Soft Phones !

    Looks like shooting is becoming a pastime around !!! What the FKK has happened in Mumbai… every Tom Dick and Harry thinks they can hold a city to ransom just like that !!!

    But then why am I even talking about Mumbai ! what the political parties do to the people is nothing less than this !!!

    Its just the people who get killed at the end of the day !

  • Gorgeous !

    What is it that makes women look amazingly beautiful when the breeze plays around with their hair? and when they decide to just come in front of the face?

    I live in a windy part of the city in Milwaukee, and every morning when I come to the office, I see a number of them walking, with the hair freely tossed around by the wind… (I guess they have not started feeling too cold yet, good for me 🙂 ) and they just look gorgeous !

    Does not fall straight at you, but you walk into it ! Look up and around, and its a different world altogether ! The eyes just do not want to see beyond the snow flakes, flowing around ! (except when you are driving and/or are in a snow storm !)

    The greens, browns, reds also turning into white !!!

    It seems to be so different !

  • So is Life !

    A bit too unpredictable!! You gotta live every single second of it !!!



    While I feel encouraged to live every second right now, I also feel bad about wasting my time over things/people/incidents which were not really worth it… They have done some good for me for sure, first by teaching me a lesson, and then making it all more important for me to make up for the lost time ! Ok forget it… let me just turn the rear view mirror away for a while !

    Turning off the comments on this post !!! This was written in a mind frame and thoughts which were triggered by the untimely and sudden death of a very dear friend… I am not really sure that the post reflects what all I have been thinking… and I am not really sure I feel like talking more about this post !!

  • Just notes

    I have never liked meetings… more often than not, not much comes out of them as a result except some sleepy heads, lost faces, messy notes etc… and looks like I am going to be attending/driving/managing meetings for atleast 80% of my time, if not any less !!!

    I am not used to this… but so far the account looks pretty bright for me personally… at the same time there is much going on in the small head of mine ! Not having some of my friends around to talk it out, is bad !!!

    Chai Ki Dukaan would see much reduced activity from me in the next few days, while I try to settle down in Milwaukee… Catch you later and thanks for reading !

    I was at this red light near my house, and a young couple, recently married by the looks of it, stopped next to me… and the guy was in a hurry to cross the red light, even though there was heavier than light traffic moving around ! And the girl was just sitting behind, completely oblivious of the fact that the guy was risking both their lives just to save 30 odd seconds of stopping on the signal. The guy displayed some interesting driving skills and crossed !

    I see this often !!! People who are riding pillion or sitting next to the drivers do not really object to defaults by the drivers!!!

    Here is a proposed point based traffic default control system for young couples 🙂 And see if you can take it seriously 🙂

    You start with 10 points in your kitty…

    – Every act of nice-ness and ethics on the road, adds 1 point to your total; and if you were over nice someday (Stopped for someone and let them walk/drive through before you, drove in the right lanes with safety first the entire day, etc) you get 2 points.

    – Every minor default(overtaking from the left, unnecessary lane change, useless honking, driving in high beams, improper parking) subtracts 1 point from your total.

    – Every major default (Not stopping on a red light, driving on the wrong side in a one way lane, parking in the no parking area, parking in front of someone else’s gate, dangerous driving, unnecessary over speeding, driving under influence) would subtract 2 points from the total.

    And then :

    • If at any time the points for a married driver goes below 5, NO SEX till he gets his total beyond 5 points
    • If a bachelor, has less than 5 points, no kisses and no other physical intimacy till he crosses 5 points again. No not even holding hands !
    • If a married lady driver is less than 5 points, take away her face wash and the perfume bottles till she gets back to more than 5 points
    • If an unmarried girl is less than 5 points, the above applies in addition to a shopping/outing ban for a week.
    The ownership here lies with the people to ensure we have safer and better roads out there !!!

  • Why, Let there be light?

    I have recently noticed (ok, not too recently) but I have noticed a unique design by Maruti Suzuki in their recent cars !

    A small red light, at the lower end of the rear bumper in the center. It does not come on with the rear or the brake lights, but apparently has a separate switch to operate!

    Now I am wondering what thought might have gone into putting a light there, just about 10 inches above the ground !!! The light at the rear top makes sense as it increases visibility from a distance, plus gives indication of applied brakes to vehicles which are relatively higher and following you at a very close distance and is a backup light just in case one of your bulbs for the brake lights is not working !

    But this light in question, is only increasing costs, but making the bumper more customized, added light (prone to damage more often, while parking, backing up etc), extra wiring and above all, a stupid look…

    Can someone help me make sense of that light please !

    Having said that, I still love to drive my first Maruti 800, Tushar’s old Zen and Aro’s really old esteem ! What brilliant engines they are! For some, Maruti might have come a long way, but from where I see it, it produces much worse cars then it used to in terms of finish, durability, and build quality ! Swift, though really strange design ( strange fattish look, and extra small windows), is a car that I like because of the work inside the car, below the hood (a bit of my liking for swift is because of the FIAT diesel engine that it uses :P) Do read about the interesting design story for the SWIFT here, and check out the two door and convertible Swifts ! they look brilliant ! I just hope they improve the paint job on the Swift ! The red one looks like years old even after a few months !
